Clonmel U13s travelled to Scariff for their second-last fixture in the Pan Munster Shield, facing a strong Scariff/Ballina/Killaloe outfit on Sunday. The visitors were dealt a major setback straight from the opening kick-off, losing two players to injury within the first few moments of play.
Scariff took full advantage, using their size and physicality to dominate the early exchanges and build a healthy lead on the scoreboard. Despite the difficult start, Clonmel showed real grit, using the half-time break to regroup and refocus.
The second half saw a transformed Clonmel side. For 17 relentless minutes they pressed their opponents, throwing everything they had into attack. Phase after phase brought them closer, but the try line remained agonisingly out of reach as the final pass or bounce of the ball just wouldn’t fall their way.
In the end, Scariff/Ballina/Killaloe held firm and claimed the win, but the Clonmel players earned huge credit for their determination and fight until the final whistle.
A special word of thanks goes to the parents and supporters who made the long journey and provided unwavering encouragement throughout the day.
Clonmel now turn their attention to their final match of the campaign, a home tie against Killarney RFC next Saturday.
