Our u18.5 squad went to Kilfeacle today to take on Galty Rugby and if the first meeting earlier in the year was anything to go by this was going to be a cracker! And as they say it did not disappoint.
Galty kicked off on a balmy day up on the hill and it was game on straight away with some massive tackles on both side until Clonmel lapsed in concentration and left them up the wing to touch down in the corner.
Clonmel now had to defend their line and held up a couple of certain try’s however Galty did manage to get another and convert to make if 12-0 at the break to the boys from the hill.
Clonmel regrouped and some inspiring words and positive motivation from the coaches, Clonmel came out revved up for the second half firing on all cyclinders, within minutes Clonmel from a well worked team move was finished off by Dylan Flack in the corner and expertly converted by Jack O’Brien. 12- 7 and now Clonmel began to bite down and put Galty under pressure which eventually paid off with a try under the posts by Bobby Purcell and once again jack o brien added the extra 2. To make it 14-12 to Clonmel, with some impressive carries from Jakub Prazan and some mazy runs from both the Murphy brothers Richard and Tom, Clonmel pushed on to close out the game and eventually did the trick with a powerful carry from Patrick Normile touching down to make it 19- 12 on the final whistle , Thanks to all who supported today and best of luck to Galty for the rest of the season.
