The Clonmel Under 12s Rugby Club enjoyed an unforgettable weekend tour to Cardiff, packed with rugby, bonding, and incredible experiences.
The journey began early on Friday morning, with the team departing at 5:00am from Clonmel Rugby Club and travelling by coach and ferry to Wales. Upon arrival, there was a quick turnaround as the group headed straight to Cardiff Arms Park to watch Cardiff take on the Ospreys in an exciting match, with Cardiff emerging victorious.
The highlight of the evening saw the young players step onto the pitch themselves, meeting players from both teams and experiencing the thrill of a professional rugby stadium.
Saturday brought more action as the team travelled to Barry Rugby Football Club, where they were warmly welcomed by the Barry Under 12s. The Clonmel boys delivered an outstanding performance on a full-sized pitch, showcasing the results of their hard work throughout the season. After the match, both teams spent time together, strengthening friendships and enjoying the spirit of the game. The day continued with the team watching the Energia AIL 2C Final broadcast live from Ard Gaoithe and witnessing a magnificent win for our Clonmel 1XV Senior Team over Bective Rangers and adding to the excitement of our tour.
Later on the group visited the iconic Principality Stadium in Cardiff for a VIP tour, giving everyone a behind-the-scenes look at a world class rugby venue.
The weekend concluded with the team returning home on Sunday, tired but thrilled after a trip that strengthened bonds, built memories, and celebrated their progress and achievements as a team.
A huge thank you goes to all the travelling parents, coaches, Rugby Tours Ireland and especially our coach drivers John and Claire who ensured a safe and enjoyable journey throughout.
