The Energia All-Ireland League kicked off with an exciting clash between Monkstown FC and Clonmel RFC
Clonmel got off to a strong start when Robert Wall crossed for a try within the first five minutes. This was followed by a try from Jason Monua. Monkstown FC responded with two tries before half-time, making it anyone’s game going into the second half at 14-14.
Jack Walsh crossed the try line early on in the second half, but Monkstown FC fought back with two further tries to take the lead.
With just five minutes remaining, Robert Wall crossed for his second try of the match to level the scores. The game went right down to the wire, with Joe O’Connor crossing for the final try of the match. Joe also produced an impressive display with the boot. After a nail-biting contest, the full-time score was 33–28 to Clonmel RFC.
