A fast paced start for Mitchelstown gave them the opportunity to open up the Clonmel defence from an unexpected Garryowen kick with the flanker following up to catch it on the bounce and running clear to touch it down. The home side battled well in the rucks and defended well to just rewards coming back to level the score. Phase after phase clonmel strung the moves together with the passes going to hand together demonstrating some fine rugby saw Clonmel beginning to build a good lead at halftime. Into the second half both teams fielded their respective bench’s and a tough gritty contest ensued. Clonmel fielded the high ball well and with many attacking spreads out wide from the backs the green machine engineered some fine scores.
