Clonmel produced a dominant second-half display to overcome Killarney RFC in their final game of the Pan Munster Shield campaign on Saturday.
The opening half was a tense and physical affair, with both sides locked in a defensive stalemate. Neither team was willing to concede ground, and despite sustained pressure at times from both outfits, the breakthrough would not come. The teams went into the interval deadlocked at 0–0 after a fiercely contested 17 minutes.
Clonmel emerged after the restart with renewed energy and attacking intent. The home side raised the tempo immediately and were rewarded with a flurry of scores, crossing the line for four well-worked tries. Two successful conversions added further gloss to an impressive second-half performance.
Just as notable as their attacking surge was Clonmel’s defensive resilience. The U13s held firm throughout, shutting out Killarney and preserving a deserved clean sheet in front of their supporters.
Attention now turns to a home league semi-final clash against Thurles RFC on March 11th.
